Gear Update: My Current Setup for Stunning Photography!
Hey friends!
I thought it was about time I shared an update on my current photography gear setup. I’ve been getting a lot of questions about what I’m using these days, so let’s dive into all the fun details!
Canon R8: My New Go-To Camera
First up, the Canon R8! I recently upgraded to this beauty, and let me tell you, it’s been a game-changer. The R8 is super lightweight and has incredible autofocus, which makes shooting those spontaneous moments a breeze. I’ve been loving how responsive and sharp this camera is, especially for weddings and adventure sessions where every second counts. Plus, the low-light performance is chef’s kiss—perfect for those golden hour shots I’m obsessed with.
Lenses: 24-70mm, 85mm, and 50mm
Now, let’s talk lenses. I’ve been rocking a versatile trio lately that covers all my bases:
- 24-70mm This lens rarely leaves my camera. It’s perfect for capturing everything from wide landscapes to intimate portraits. The zoom range gives me so much flexibility, especially when I’m in unpredictable environments. It’s basically my Swiss Army knife lens—great for those who, like me, love to shoot a bit of everything.
- 85mm Ah, the 85mm. This lens is my go-to for portraits. The creamy bokeh it produces is absolutely dreamy, and the focal length is just right for flattering close-ups without being too intrusive. Whenever I want to make someone feel like a movie star, I pull out this baby.
- 50mm: Last but not least, the nifty fifty! I always have this in my bag. It’s lightweight, affordable, and produces some seriously sharp images. The 50mm is perfect for those moments when I want to keep things simple yet impactful. It’s also amazing for low-light situations, which we all know can be a lifesaver.
Editing Setup: Apple Laptop & Wacom Tablet
After the shoot, it’s time to head back to my trusty editing station. I’m currently using an Apple laptop, which handles my photo editing software like a champ. I love how smooth everything runs on this machine—no lag, no fuss, just pure creativity.
And to top it all off, I’ve been using a Wacom tablet for retouching. If you’ve never tried one, I highly recommend it! The precision you get with a tablet is unmatched compared to a regular mouse or trackpad. It makes editing feel more like painting, and I can get into the tiniest details with ease.
Flash: Lighting Up the Scene
I also carry a flash with me, just in case. While I’m a sucker for natural light, having a flash handy is essential for those tricky lighting situations. Whether it’s a dimly lit reception or a dramatic outdoor shot, my flash is there to save the day.
That’s my current gear lineup! Each piece helps me capture the essence of every moment, from the grand landscapes to the intimate exchanges. If you’re thinking about updating your kit or have any questions about mine, feel free to drop a comment below. I’d love to hear what you’re using and what gear you’re eyeing next!
Until next time, keep capturing those beautiful moments.
